Mrs. Rantz's third graders are working to create Movenote presentations this week. Movenote allows them to incorporate images, voice and video. They're pretty excited about the whole production!
5th grade students have been studying about inherited traits and learned behaviors. Today they worked with the Samsung tablets in the library and, using Board Builder within Discovery Education, they were able to create a board that demonstrated their understanding of both those concepts. Students uploaded, searched or captured their own images of concepts and then created descriptive captions to accompany those images. Ms. McGee's second graders used the Samsung tablets to discover the library. After some instruction, students accessed the digital card catalog and searched for non-fiction subjects and titles.
Students in Ms. McBride's language arts class have been drafting imaginative stories. Today they were in the computer lab typing them in Google Docs. Once they've finished, they'll share their file with a classmate and get and give help in the editing process for a quality published piece. Teachers and students from every grade level - Kindergargen thru 5th graders - participated in Computer Science Education Week's Hour of Code. Check out our Student Links for lots of coding fun!
Ms. Stockham's students have been learning about thankfulness. Then they spent some time in the computer lab writing about what they were thankful for. They learned how to use the shift key to make upper case letters. They also learned how to end their sentences with a period. Lots of great learning in first grade! Third graders are diligently researching pioneer life in America. They have been reading and reading! Next Thursday they'll dress in pioneer garb and spend the day participating in authentic pioneer activities, like churning butter and punching tin. Mrs. Rantz's students are using their Samsung tablets to create their research projects, but they definitely won't be using technology next Thursday. Ms. Bertul's class worked on their math facts in the computer lab today. |
